After the first announcement of Cyberpunk 2077 in May 2012, the game took 8 years to finally release with many postpones along the way. The first look, the first teaser, and the first official trailer were all promising which made it one of the most anticipated video games of all time. Well, if it ain’t for our precious Keanu Reeves the game would not have so many followers on social media and forums. The gamers community was desperately waiting for this open-world RPG for god know how long and but it’s finally here and you can put your hands on it. But wait, Is Cyberpunk 2077 a big failure or win? Let’s highlight the key issues in the game.
CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 has one of the biggest world maps bigger than “GTA-5” and their previous masterpiece “The Witcher”. The graphics, gameplay, and environment details are truly overwhelming. The game begins in a wasteland where V (Your Playing Character) wakes up and has as little dispute with the sheriff but manages to escape. Then the story after a few missions follows the road to the Night City and the real massacre begins. All these details were previously seen in the trailers but reviewers generated a lot of heat with their controversies regarding the gameplay and characters. To be honest, I have never seen any other game with so much customization in a character. I mean basically, you can change everything from top to bottom of your body even the tiniest details. CD Projekt Red did so much work for so long with this game; one might have thought it might end up like Death Stranding. I wouldn’t say Death Stranding was bad but clearly, it didn’t reach up to the expectations Hideo Kojima promised us.
However, millions of fans are still disappointed with Cyberpunk 2077 regardless of its perfection on everything. Why? The reason is, there are so many bugs and glitches in-game. The patch notes released did not fix these glitches and gamers have been constantly complaining about these issues ever since the game was released. Assassins Creed: Unity had a lot of bugs when it was released and we can see cyberpunk has some. One of the streamers tweeted “V’s partner walked right across the vehicle on the first episode of the game”. Can these bugs and glitches be a threat to meet user’s expectations? When you invest millions in a game, the creators would want to make it bug-free but sometimes things don’t go as expected, does it?
Hundreds of tweets have been released complaining about the performance of the game ever since it was released mostly on PS4 and Xbox. Take a look at this tweet. The performance and graphics are slightly better on PC but console players are showing disappointment in their tweets and videos.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 a Failure or Success?
Regardless of these glitches and bugs, the game is a huge success. The game is expected to have around 30 million sales by the end of 2020 and no other game out there can come in competition with Cyberpunk 2077 currently. Let’s hope the creators release bug and glitch fix patches soon and everyone can enjoy the game and make the most out of the Night City.
